Pig In A Pen (And Other Fiddle Ditties For Galax Dulcimer)

Pig In A Pen (And Other Fiddle Ditties For Galax Dulcimer) is Phyllis Gaskins' second book on the Galax dulcimer, following A Job Of Journey Work. It's another comprehensive look at the instrument's unique playing and construction style.

Each song comes with playing instructions and Phyllis's own adapted notation for the authentic Galax style. The book also covers Galax dulcimer history and construction and the artists who defined the style. Phyllis, also an artist, illustrated the whole book around its title theme.

Tuning: all songs assume every string is tuned to D. D tunes start "Do" at fret 0; G tunes at fret 3; A tunes at fret 4, with a partial capo (drone strings only) at fret 1; E minor tunes at fret 1, with the drones tuned to E or a partial capo at fret 1. Instructions for DAD tuning are included too.
